Setting Up Using a Web Browser (Persona)
If you have a PC with Internet access, you can connect to the Dixie Information Network via a web browser. In order for you to take advantage of this method, your computer must meet the following requirements:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02a or greater or Netscape Navigator 3.01 or greater. We recommend you use Internet Explorer 5 or greater for the best experience. This is a free download from Microsoft.
- 16 MB of memory or greater
- PC running in 256 color mode or greater
To Setup your session:
- Establish an Internet connection.
- Open your web browser and point it to http://198.143.195.33/persona/ (Note: you should save this page as a "Favorite" in your browser for ease of navigation.)
- Follow the On-Screen instructions to setup your session.
To Connect to the Dixie Information Network
- Point your browser to http://198.143.195.33/persona/
- Click on the Dixie Information Network link at the top of the screen (see image below)
- A second browser window will open and will load the terminal window. (Note: this may take as long as a minute to load, especially if you are using the Java client)
- At the "username" prompt, type your username and press [ENTER].
- At the "password" prompt, type your password and press [ENTER]. Since passwords are used for security, you will not see it appear on the screen as you are typing. This is normal. If you make a mistake, an "authorization violation failure" message will appear. Try again by pressing [ENTER] and re-entering your username and password.
After a certain period of inactivity, you will be logged off of the system. You will know this has happened when the on-screen text changes from white to gray. If you were in the process of entering an order and are subsequently logged off, your order is automatically suspended (saved). Please make a note of your order number as soon as it is displayed for easy access in case of automatic log off. To reconnect immediately, press the "CONNECT" button in the top left-hand corner of the window.
